Rules for Authors
of scientific journal "Problems of nuclear power plants' safety and of Chornobyl"
The journal presents publications on problems of nuclear power engineering, NPP safe operation, life-time extension of NPP units and NPP decommissioning, radioactive waste management, environmental impact of radioactively hazardous objects, radiobiology and radioecology, radiation material sciences, instrumentation and methods of experiments, problems of overcoming heavy technogenic accidents’ consequences.
Unpublished previously articles can be accepted to the journal.
Articles are submitted for publication in English, Ukrainian and Russian.
Text of the articles and all materials should be thoroughly edited, revised and signed by authors. Article should be submitted in in a single copy, and simultaneously in electronic version in Microsoft Word format.
The format of the electronic version of the article
Paper size – A4. Margins: top – 2.0 cm, bottom – 2.5 cm, right – 1,0 cm, left – 3.0 cm. Font – Times New Roman, spacing – 1.5, indention - 1.25 cm.
Figures and photos (up to six) should have a clear image (black and white) and be inserted in the text of the article. The inscriptions in the figures and photographs should be replaced, if possible, by letters, and the curves should be designated with numbers which are explained in the captions. The width of figures and photos is 85 mm (located in wrap) or 170 mm.
All physical values should be submitted in units of CI system, and all the inscriptions and names of units in the figures and tables should be submitted in the primary language of the article. Font size used for figures, tables and captions – 10 pt. Figures, photos and tables should have a number and a name (as well as relevant references in the text). Abbreviations are not allowed in the text, tables and in the figures (except generally accepted).
Equation editor should be used for formulas. Writing – regular, location – center alignment, formula number – on the right in the parentheses.
The full volume of article should not exceed 10–12 pages. Presentation should be clear, concise, without long introductions, retreats and repetitions, and without duplication of data from tables, figures and captions in the text. Summary and Conclusions should not duplicate each other.
Rules of Formatting
Index UDC: font size – 10 pt, writing – standard, position – left align.
Authors (initials, surname): font size – 11 pt, writing – bold type, position – center alignment.
Name of organization and mailing address: font size – 10 pt, writing – italic, position – center alignment.
Title of article: font size – 11 pt, writing – in capital bold letters, position – center alignment. Don’t put a period at the end of the header. Headers should be separated from the text above and below by one blank line.
Summary with keywords (up to five) should be presented in the language of the main text of article, up to 1000 characters, front size – 10 pt, writing – standard, position – justified alignment.
Text of article: front size – 11 pt, writing – standard, position – justified alignment. Words should be separated by only one space. Text should be typed only with soft hyphen (hyphen + Ctrl). Non-breaking space is inserted between the value and the unit (Ctrl + Shift + space).
The name of the subtitle of the first level: font size – 11 pt, writing – bold, position – center alignment.
The name of the subtitle of the second level: font size – 10 pt, writing – bold, position – center alignment.
References (in original language and repeated in the Latin alphabet): font size – 10 pt, writing – standard, position – justified alignment. References to the literature – in square brackets in the form of ordinal numbers. Class (IPC) and full date of publication of copyright certificates and patents should be included in the references.
Annotation (with keywords) in other two languages (Ukr./Rus., Eng.) should be presented at the end of the article. Font size – 10 pt, writing – standard, position – justified alignment.
Details about the authors should be submitted on a separate sheet: name and surname (fully), academic degree, rank, position, full name of organization and its postal address, telephone, fax and e-mail.
